Paris mysteries and how to write a bestseller
Cara Black joins the show to talk writing, Paris, and her new book.
Hi there,
Five years since her last appearance on The Earful Tower podcast - Cara Black is back! That’s right, the New York Times bestselling murder mystery writer is on the show, talking about Paris, writing, and her new book.
It was really lovely to catch up with her - we’ve done an awful lot over the years. A personal highlight was scooting her around Paris between the office and home of her famed main character, Aimee Leduc. I’ll try to dig out that video from the archives and share it around this week.
But in the meantime, you can listen to the episode below, and here are some quick links.

Walking Tour Corner
Meanwhile, my team of guides and I have been very busy. The Marais, the Latin Quarter, Montmartre, and the Louvre - we’ve been enjoying sharing it all with you.
I personally have never done so many tours in a week as I have this past week. I’m going all in. Come and find me - or one of my excellent guides - and let us show you our take on this magnificent city.
You never know what’s going to happen on an Earful tour, but it’s going to be memorable. Book yours here. We’ll show you things you’ve never seen before.
The Italy corner
Now, let’s turn our attention to our new “The Earful Everywhere” channel, where I’m currently taking you through Italy, and this week we were focusing on Italian food.
When should you never drink cappuccino? How can you tell if the gelato will be bad? And how long should you wait before biting into a supplì? In fact... what is a supplì?
For this episode, local resident and LivTours Guide Manager Davide Falasca took me around the dynamic Testaccio neighbourhood to talk history, Italian culture, and especially food.
Grab yourself un caffè at the bar and have a listen! (And then book a tour in Rome for the full experience). Maybe you’ll meet Davide too, if you’re lucky.
This season of The Earful Everywhere is proudly brought to you by LivTours, who made it possible for us to share these travel stories with you.
Next week I’ll take you to the Vatican museums and the Sistine Chapel, where I was almost entirely alone.
New episodes will be out every Friday on The Earful Everywhere. Please follow it on Instagram here, Spotify here, and/or iTunes here. It’s free to follow, and it’ll help me grow this new project into the future.
Have a lovely week,
Oliver
Cara Black will always be my favorite writer, been reading her books for over 20 years, she’s also super lovely in person, thanks featuring her! 💖
