Here comes my new channel: The Earful Everywhere
A new project calls for a new city, so let's start with the city that never sleeps - New York.
Hi folks,
Big news: I've launched a new side project: The Earful Everywhere.
And starting today, you can hear the first episode about New York City, which you can listen to on iTunes and Spotify.
What's actually happening?
Before going any further, let me ease some potential concerns. Nothing is changing with The Earful Tower: Paris. Same channel, same plan. There will be a new episode about Paris every Monday, just as there has been for the last eight years. These two podcast channels will work in parallel.
The only difference with the Paris pod is that we no longer have a sponsor, so I'll start promoting Patreon and Substack membership again. The Earful is a community affair and there’s no way we can grow without your help! Join the cool club and unlock bonuses :)
So… What’s The Earful Everywhere?
The Earful Everywhere is a channel where I delve into other parts of the world, outside of France where I live. You might remember that I did The Earful Sweden a few years ago. Well, that has now retroactively become season one of The Earful Everywhere.
Today, we launched a mini two-parter season, all about New York. And next month, May 2025, we'll launch season three.
Tell me more about New York
The title of episode one is New York Part 1: Blowin' in the Wind. I made it fun, there's even a little game I played through the whole episode, the rules of which I reveal at the end. See if you spot what I did as the episode is playing, perhaps you'll be the first to notice and win the prize...You can listen to the episode below or on iTunes or Spotify.
This episode is all about the first half of my solo visit to the Big Apple, which was heaps of fun and filled with surprising connections. It starts in Times Square and the heads across the city. And as a basketball fan, it would have been inconceivable to be in New York and not take in a game, but were the travel misadventures conspiring against me?
As the saying goes - it’s not what you know, it’s who you know - and I was fortunate to know someone with an excellently-situated apartment in the city. An apartment with the most awe-inspiring view, like something from a movie. Check it out below. Full story in the episode, but now you can imagine what I was looking at each night.
After miles of sidewalk walked, a ‘world famous’ bagel, and some serious celeb spotting, I was ever moving towards a French wine bar for a meet-up with New Yorker listeners and followers. More about that in episode two, but I have to highlight the fact that this trip was enhanced by having so many connections in the city. Thank you to everyone who reached out.
Enjoy the episode, please subscribe, tell your friends, review it, and follow it on Instagram.
And since we're treating this like a brand new podcast, I need all the help I can get, and nothing is more valuable than word of mouth - so please spread the word!
What about the upcoming season?
Season three will come in May and I'm very excited to share the epic episodes we’ve lined up. We'll release 10 full episodes based entirely around another country. It isn’t France, nor the US. Somewhere else. I'll reveal the new location in next week's Earful Everywhere podcast. But perhaps you'd like to guess in the comments below?
What about Paris? Don't leave Paris? Help!
Don't worry (and I know some of you are worried!) everything will stay the same for Paris content. Case in point: This week was a great adventure of an episode - our show-stopping season finale with Marie and Bertrand from My Private Paris. The three of us glided down the Seine river on a private river cruiser and talked about how to visit five of the iconic sites in Paris - Notre Dame, the Louvre, the Musée d’Orsay, the Eiffel Tower and the river itself.
Marie and Bertrand offered us some of their hard-earned Paris know-how as we took in the beauty of Paris. You can see what we were seeing on the video below.
That's it for now, please spread the word and follow The Earful Everywhere on Instagram, as well as your favourite podcast platform. Who knows, this could become something big, why not be the first there.
Have a lovely, sunny weekend
Oliver
So excited to hear this series - I love Venice and Rome! We did several tours with Liv Tours in Rome Nov/Dec 2023 - each tour guide was great!
I love the Earful Tower, but I also love the concept of the Earful Everywhere. A very exciting development!!! YAY!!!!
